FINAL WEEK TO VIEW McENROE WORKS IN "YOUNG MODERNS"

A large overview of John McEnroe's latex paintings have been on view at UCCS' Gallery of Contemporary Art since early December as part of the three person exhibition "Young Moderns."  Those who have not discovered this revamped exhibition program are missing out on the terrific curatorial vision of Christopher Lynn, who took over the gallery at UCCS last year and has managed to bring two exhibitions so far that are as inspired as anything currently being presented on the contemporary scene in Colorado.  "Young Moderns" is a great example - Lynn brings together New York artist Sarah Braman and Chicago's Todd Chilton alongside Plus Gallery artist John McEnroe for a distinct view of modernism-based painting today.  Though he is the local artist of the trio, McEnroe's work is the true star of the show, it nearly brought a tear to the eyes to see these works finally presented in a setting that they have long demanded.  Truly some of John's finest works to date, if they were in any major market they would be both celebrated and sought after.  The exhibition will close after this Saturday February 9th, so its not too late to catch the show though it does require making the drive down to C Springs.   For more information visit www.galleryuccs.org
