International Experimental Cinema Exposition Comes To Denver This Week

For the first time in Denver, TIE, The International Experimental Cinema Exposition holds its global gathering of films and filmmakers in a 5-day intensive festival of experimental celluloid. Over forty of today's most interesting experimentalists will be in-person to present new and archived experimental cinema amongst 23 film-shows and 5 soirees with live acts including Ten and Tracer, Toddler, and Transistor Radio Sound.............The line-up includes over 130 8mm, 16mm and 35mm films that explore beyond the limits of contemporary screen culture. The festivals various events are held at several Denver venues and cinema-houses. Over 15 different countries' avant-garde film cultures are represented. New films will be shown by: Peter Tscherkassky, Frank Biesendorfer, Peter Kubelka, David Gatten, Nathaniel Dorsky, Phil Solomon, Thomas Draschan, Lewis Klahr, Martha Colburn and many others. There will also be rare screenings of films by Andy Warhol, Stan Brakhage and Boyd Rice. Special programs include a curated program presented by Thorsten Fleisch on educational and scientific films from the Third Reich.
